Goals
- Transition the asset management firm’s existing web presence into a contemporary, responsive interface that aligns with current industry standards and provides a premium experience across all device types.
- Create a seamless, "app-like" user experience by architecting a lightweight method for the static site to communicate with the firm's internal APIs for real-time data loading.
- Deliver clean, semantically structured static HTML and optimized asset bundles specifically architected for the client's internal software engineer to "slice" and integrate into their proprietary backend infrastructure with minimal friction.
The project involved a sophisticated front-end development effort to transform a Toronto asset management company's digital presence into a modern, responsive platform. Working from comprehensive Figma designs, the objective was to bridge the gap between high-fidelity creative concepts and a functional, data-driven interface. To ensure the client’s internal team could easily "slice" and integrate the frontend into their proprietary systems, the project was delivered as a suite of optimized, static HTML files. To maintain a professional development workflow without the overhead of a heavy frontend framework, a custom build pipeline was architected using Vite. This setup incorporated TypeScript for robust scripting and SASS for scalable, modular styling. By implementing a custom loader for Pug templates, the development process benefited from component-style reusability, allowing for the efficient management of recurring UI blocks like navigation headers, footers, and complex financial data tables across multiple pages. Despite the static nature of the final deliverables, the website was engineered to function with the fluidity of a Single Page Application (SPA). This was achieved by integrating a custom routing and state management layer that fetched real-time data from the firm’s internal APIs. This approach ensured that the end-user experience was fast and seamless, while the underlying architecture remained decoupled from the backend. The final phase of the collaboration focused on the handoff to the firm’s lead software engineer. By providing clean, semantically structured HTML and well-documented asset bundles, the integration with their internal infrastructure was streamlined. This technical strategy successfully balanced the need for a modern, interactive user interface with the practical requirements of a secure, enterprise-level financial system.
Outcomes
- Successfully translated complex Figma designs into a modern, mobile-first web platform that maintains professional branding and functional data density across all device resolutions.
- Produced a complete suite of clean, semantically structured HTML files and optimized asset bundles, allowing the client’s internal software engineer to seamlessly "slice" and integrate the frontend into their proprietary backend systems.
- Successfully engineered a website that delivers the fluid, high-performance feel of a Single Page Application by implementing a custom routing and API integration layer without the overhead of a heavy frontend framework.
- Established a high-efficiency development environment using Vite, SASS, and TypeScript, which enabled rapid iteration and the use of reusable Pug templates for consistent component management across the entire site.
