Advisor Portal

Common Wealth Retirement / March 2023

Goals

  • Integrate a dedicated portal into the existing multi-app frontend architecture to provide benefits-focused advisors with a centralized, purpose-built environment for managing their daily workflows.
  • Provide advisors with immediate, self-service access to critical plan metrics—such as member participation and retirement readiness—to eliminate the "problem" of fragmented or manually compiled data.
  • Leverage the high-performing advisor segment as a primary business engine, using the portal's utility to help them expand their individual books of business and, by extension, the company's overall market share.

Leveraging a frontend architecture already designed to support multiple applications, the integration of this new advisor-focused platform was highly efficient. This technical foundation allowed for a straightforward rollout of a dedicated portal specifically for benefits advisors. By expanding the existing ecosystem, the project provided a specialized digital workspace without the overhead of building a new infrastructure from scratch. The core functionality of the portal centers on a "book of business" view, allowing advisors to monitor their entire portfolio at a glance. It integrates complex data points into digestible metrics, such as member participation rates and retirement readiness scores. These insights enable advisors to move beyond basic administration and provide high-level consulting based on real-time trends within the plans they manage. By utilizing these detailed metrics, advisors are better equipped to demonstrate tangible value to their clients, the plan sponsors. This ability to provide evidence-based insights strengthens the relationship between the advisor and the sponsor, fostering trust and long-term retention. Clear data serves as a powerful tool for advisors to justify their services and secure their position as essential partners. Ultimately, the portal acts as a catalyst for mutual growth. As advisors use these tools to expand their own reach and improve plan performance, they simultaneously accelerate the company's broader business objectives. This project represents a virtuous cycle where providing specialized utility to a specific user group results in scaled success across the entire organization.

Outcomes

  • Successfully leveraged the existing multi-application frontend to deploy a new, specialized portal with minimal friction, proving the scalability of the current codebase.
  • By providing tools that help individual advisors expand their portfolios, the project has created a direct pipeline for increasing the company's overall market share and revenue.
